Learning Highlights
​Communicating assertively is the midway mark between aggressive and passive communication.  In a metaphor, a doormat represents passive communication and aggressive communication being a sledgehammer.  Assertive communication represents a gentle lean in the door that opens opportunities to a productive dialog.  Communicating assertively, thus is communicating in a clear manner that expresses your opinions and needs, while respecting the opinions and needs of the other person. 
 
By the end of the 1-day workshop, the participants will be able to – • Identify the three types of communication • Implore assertive thoughts and assertive behaviors when communicating • Apply the assertive formula as technique to enhance communication skills 
 
The one-day workshop will revolve on the following topics – 
 
1. 3 types of communication a. Passive communication b. Aggressive communication c. Assertive communication 
 
2. Why assertion doesn’t come naturally 
 
3. Identifying current mindset 
 
4. Avoiding the passive-aggressive trap 
 
5. Assertive thoughts a. Changing your inner dialogue b. Reducing negative emotions 
 
6. Assertive behaviors a. Highlighting the unspoken signal 
 
7. Assertive formula a. Validating the other persona and show empathy b. Stating the problem from your view point c. Stating your needs d. Learning to disagree through questions 
 
​The learning session will be interactive and are inclusive of pre and post assessment measurements.  70% of the workshop revolves around learning by doing, 20% on coaching and mentoring and 10% about discussion on theories and conceptual framework.  Participants will experience structured learning experience, gamification and business simulation throughout the program run. We shall endorse the course manual for reproduction at least 3 days prior to the roll out of the program.  The company shall take care of the LCD projector, sound system, easel boards, reproduction of the manuals and marking pens to be used during the activity.   If the activity will be held outside Metro Manila, the company shall provide accommodation, meals and transportation logistics.
